EXAMPLES Pro
Financial Services, Inc. Athlete's Disability Insurance has been
used in the following manners for virtually every sport in the United
States, from football and baseball to snow boarding and auto-racing:
Example
A: The Illinois Wildcats have just signed their star wide receiver
to a five year contract with a $20,000,000 signing bonus. He earns
$4,000,000 of that signing bonus each year of the contract, whether
he plays or not. In the event the insured played the first, third
and fifth years of his contract, but was hurt during the second
and fourth, our coverage is designed to pay the team up to 80% of
the $8,000,000 he was paid while disabled.
Example
B: Superstar Shoes, Inc. has recently signed All-Star basketball
player John Smith to a $25,000,000 five year contract, payable at
$5,000,000 a year to endorse their new line of shoes. If the player
is not participating in games during the season, the company is
not receiving the exposure that they are paying John Smith for.
Therefore, our coverage would be structured to reimburse the company
a percentage of the contract for games missed due to disability.
Example
C: Jim Jones, a professional baseball player, is entering the
last year of his rookie contract after which he will be an unrestricted
free agent. Thus, the large guaranteed contract he has spent the
last fifteen years of his amateur and professional career earning
is around the corner. The only thing that can prevent him from signing
such a contract is a career ending injury. Disability insurance
will compensate him for the millions of dollars that he will not
receive from a team in the event he suffered such a disability.
