Protection for Entertainers - Examples
The following examples illustrate how Pro Plus Disability Insurance, based upon Own-Occupation coverage, would respond to different types of disability situations:
Example A: Jane Smith formed a musical band three years ago. She performs as the lead singer while also serving as songwriter for the group. Given the key role Jane plays for her band, Jane needs Pro Plus Disability Insurance. The coverage would respond in the event she was physically unable to perform the major duties required by her position as an entertainer.
Example B: Three musicians started a musical group together as equal partners, dependent upon one another's unique musical talent. All three are active members during both live performances and recording sessions. As such, all three band members are eligible for three types of disability insurance, including:
(1) personal income protection insurance that allows each of the three entertainers to maintain their lifestyle if they, as individuals, should suffer a disability;
(2) lump sum disability insurance that provides two of the band members the capital to buy-out and replace the third member if he or she should become permanently disabled; and
(3) group revenue protection insurance that offsets as much as a 33 percent reduction in the band's revenue if one of the members should suffer a disability.
Example C: John Jones is a successful actor in both television programs as well as major motion pictures. His income is dependent on his ability to appear on the required set and play the appropriate role, thus creating his need for Pro Plus Disability Insurance. The coverage would respond in the event he was physically unable to perform the major duties required by his occupation as an actor.
