Some of the most utilized coverage options for this class include:

Critical Injury

Protects athletes for major injuries sustained whether it is career ending or not. It will pay a lump sum amount for the injury, e.g. a player tears his ACL, Achilles tendon, etc. An ACL tear falls into Category 1, which pays up to $500,000. Category 2 pays up to $200,000 and covers such injuries as torn pectoral, bicep, triceps, etc. Different maximum benefit amounts are available.

Split Contract Coverage

Protects athletes (NFL) who have a split in their contract, are injured and then placed on the Injured Reserve list.

Roster Bonus

Protects an athlete’s per game roster bonus if he is not on the active 46-man game day roster.

Play Time/Performance Bonus

Protects the lost income of play time/performance bonus as it is written in the athlete’s contract due to an injury/illness.

Permanent Total Disability (PTD) & Temporary Total Disability (TTD)

Protects against career ending or temporary injury/illness directly causing athlete to be unable to perform in his/her sport.

Accidental Death & Dismemberment

Protects the athlete in the event they suffer a loss of life and/or dismemberment due to accidental cause.

Endorsement Coverage

Protects an athlete’s endorsement deal (compensation) in the event the athlete loses an endorsement deal (compensation) due to a career ending injury/illness.

Kidnap & Ransom

Protects an individual operating in high-risk areas around the world. Benefits provided may include: ransom monies, accidental death or dismemberment, medical care, wage replacement, transit/delivery, etc.
